Why Early Starts Matter in Moab
Moab summers are hot but mornings are one of the best times to ride. Starting early gives you cooler temperatures, safer conditions, less sun exposure, fewer crowds, and better riding conditions overall.
Best Time to Ride in Moab During Summer
Start between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM
Finish between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM
After mid morning, temperatures rise quickly and exposed terrain becomes significantly more demanding.
If You Miss the Early Start Time
If you miss the early window, you still have two good options.
Late morning riding works best on shorter routes, higher elevation trails, and smoother terrain with increased water and moderated effort.
Sunset riding is another great option, with ideal light and cooler temperatures. Start 2 to 3 hours before sunset, and bring a bike light if needed.
Water and Electrolytes for Moab Riding
Bring more water than you think you need due to heat, dryness, and elevation.
We recommend at least 3 liters of water per rider plus electrolytes on all rides. Electrolytes should be consumed every 60 to 90 minutes on longer rides
We recommend and carry LMNT, GU, Clif, Skratch Labs, Pro Bar,
